Serena Kung is a committed advocate in the labor movement, driven to create a positive impact within the entertainment industry. As the Executive Director of SAG-AFTRA’s Los Angeles Local, Serena leverages her experience to passionately support the membership. She thrives on developing innovative programs and events that promote education, awareness, and empowerment among performers.
Serena's career began in the service industry at the Argyle Hotel (now Sunset Towers), where her hospitality management and operations background provided a solid foundation. This experience led her to transition into the nonprofit sector. Before joining SAG-AFTRA, Serena dedicated 12 years to the Motion Picture Editors Guild, where she managed operations, finance, events, membership, and developed programs for the post-production community.
Since joining SAG-AFTRA in 2016, Serena has excelled in building cohesive teams, spearheading impactful programs, and fostering collaboration, mentorship, and effective management. She works closely with board members, committees, and staff across the country, all united in their mission to serve the members of SAG-AFTRA.
Outside of her responsibilities at SAG-AFTRA, Serena actively contributes to several community organizations. She is a member of The Entertainment Community Fund Western Council and Looking Ahead Advisory Council, serves on the FilmLA Board of Directors, and is a delegate for the L.A. County Federation of Labor.
